This is wonderfully situated, and at a fabulous price!

The hotel features an outdoor pool in gardens of the hotel, with the spa close by for everything from massage to manicure. There is a little shop selling Balinese handicrafts, and the restauant serves wonderful traditional fare from its a la carte menu. The tasteful Balinese decor in traditional materials and beautiful polished wood floors are both simple and sumptuous throughout. And each of the 30 cottage rooms are air conditioned with a full ensuite and a terrace overlooking the gardens, and feature TV, coffee and tea making facilities, and a mini bar.

This is the best family resort on a budget if you are looking for some adventure. And the hotel are more than happy to help with booking activities away from the cottages. You will likely not spend a lot of time in the hotel, but when you do, you can rest assured its peace and tranquility will leave you feeling ready to take on a new day.

Guests staying in the two or three bedroom villas can make use of the full kitchen, buying local produce at the market in Penestanan or Ubud. The facilities in the hotel are as luxurious as the rooms, with a beautiful pool set like a jewel into the surrounding lush greenery. Plus you get a welcome drink upon arrival, which is sure to spark that holiday feeling!

But this hotel, whilst fabulous, is not suitable for all families. The emphasis at the Ulun Resort is on a serene and quiet atmosphere, making this a place to avoid for any noisy families who like to play. Additionally, the family suite also only has enough space for 2 adults, and a single child sleeping on the day bed. All other suites are suitable for two people only, so you will need to book more rooms if you have two or more children to accommodate.

If you are a smaller family who like to get out and explore, then relax in the evening, this is for you. And guests are able to take advantage of free afternoon tea in the restaurant from 3pm to 5pm.

Dupa Ubud Villa

The Dupa Villa’s are the second of these self-contained style family friendly hotels in Ubud. Both stylish and modern but with traditional accents, each 1 or 2 bedroom villa has a fully furnished kitchenette. Whilst most accommodations do not feature a pool, the Deluxe Villa does contain a private outdoor pool within the walled garden, giving extra privacy for guests.

Whilst the suites and 1 bedroom villas at the Dupa Ubud are have fewer facilities, each two bedroom and deluxe villa also includes a flat screen TV, a balcony and dining area. Guests will be delighted with the homely feel of the villas, whilst still maintaining the holiday vibe that is so welcome! The deluxe villa is also built entirely on the ground floor, so is wheelchair accessible. This is a lovely touch, and not so common in this region.

All guests can take advantage of the infinity pool situated in the grounds of the resort. And whilst there is no restaurant on-site, the location of the hotel means many local restaurants allow for hotel delivery. All rooms have air-con, and there is free wifi throughout the property for guests.

The Dupa Ubud Villas are located just 15 minute drive from Ubud Monkey Forest, 10 minute drive from the centre of Ubud. This is a great option for family friendly hotels in Ubud if you are planning on making your own fun! Parking is free, and just steps away from the hotel, and the staff are friendly and willing to help if you need assistance during your stay. Having a car will also give you the opportunity to get out and head to the beach. Perhaps try some surfing in some of the calmer waters of Canggu?

If you are looking out for something a bit special for your family trip, you might want to consider this next one! But be warned, with only 3 villas on the property, this place books up fast. The Jumah comprises of three private villas, located a fifteen minute walk from the centre of Ubud, surrounded by markets, museums, restaurants and shops. Each 2 bedroom villa will suit a maximum of four adults with two children, and has a private outdoor pool set into a walled terrace. The bathrooms feature either a bath or shower (make sure to request your preference when booking), with modern accents. Sadly, there is no kitchen in any of the Payogan villas, meaning cooking is out of the question. But with the sumptuous Lesung restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can leave the cooking to someone else!
